The month of July is upon us so this months calendar venue was Wells in Somerset, and what a beautiful city, a place to visit on your travels.
Walking through the streets of Wells towards the Cathedral an array of shops and watering holes line the street for the intrepid explorer to empty their heavy purses.
PC Nicholas Angel is good. Too good. And to stop the rest of his team looking bad, he is reassigned to the quiet town of Sandford. He is paired with Danny Butterman, who endlessly questions him on the action lifestyle. Everything seems quiet for Angel until two actors are found decapitated. It is called an accident, but Angel isn’t going to accept that, especially when more and more people turn up dead. Angel and Danny clash with everyone, whilst trying to uncover the truth behind the mystery of the apparent “accidents”.
Moving on towards what can only be described as a castle gate house we entered the splendid medieval palace which has been the home of the Bishops of Bath & Wells for over 800 years.
The Bishops Palace is a place of peaceful beauty hidden behind great fortified walls with the added protection of a moat.
Looking at the scene you would be led to believe you were about to enter a Medieval Castle than a Palace for a Bishop, crossing the moat and passing through the Gate house looking up the menacing portcullis gate hangs waiting to fall and secure the Palace.
Inside the protecting walls, you will find a large lawn area with activities taking place, on our day the palace croquet club was in the middle of an intense game, with the sun shining down and the tranquility of the inner sanctum of this holy place it was the perfect sporting arena.
To enter the Palace and gardens their is a charge but I can assure you it’s worth it.
