The annual Lions club family fun day was held in Bradford on Avon yesterday 30th May, a great day out, with something for all,car boot sale for all those that love a bargain, fairground fun for the dads,oh i mean kids and the classic car show where most of my time was spent ,rude not to.
Some great cars on show including a couple of land rovers…….
Walking around the cars brings back fond memories of some great cars that had character ,it has inspired me to start the restoration project on the 1966 super deluxe mini i have.
Having walked around and photographed the cars at least twice we decided to head into the town center for a coffee and of course a cake or two.
Leaving the park a familiar person turned up to wish us well and advise us to join the dark side
Walking into the heart of Bradford on Avon following the river Avon as it winds its way through this idyllic town with the cloth mills long gone the buildings that once housed the machinery of heavy industry replaced with luxury flats ,on to the town bridge and its lock up situated at one end once used as a chapel but then used for the drunken locals in days gone by to sleep off their intoxicated state
Time to stop off at a local watering hole we chose the “The Weaving Shed”,the coffee was swapped for a pint of refreshing cider ,we had missed the lunch time menu which was a shame but worth bearing in mind check the timings.
Bradford on Avon is a great place to visit, plenty of public houses ,beautiful walks along the river Avon and canal towards Avoncliff and onto Bath, moutain bikes can also be hired from also at the canal trust cafe situated at the Bradford on Avon canal lock ,sit and watch the world go by and if it takes your fancy take a trip on a canal boat to Avoncliff .
